My dog got shot!!
#1
I just got home from school, and my dad told me while my mom was walking Rubin, my dog, they were doing the usual trails in the forest and they didn't know hunting season began today. My dog wasn't on the leash and he is very protective, he saw someone down the trail some ways and ran up to the guy. I can't blame him for being scared, my dog is a pretty good size and he might have been growling/barking. Luckily the guy only had a bow and arrow, but he launched one and I guess severed Rubin's ear and got a little bit of his left "shoulder" .

My dad called the hopsital were Rubin is staying and I guess they sewed his ear back on that it should be fine, and that we should be able to pick him up this Thursday or Friday.

omg thats so horrible-yeah, i guess you cant blame the guy for freaking out, but who the hell fires a bow and arrow at a dog?! esp if they see his owners up the trail

i love how its us girls who are the sensitive dog-people lol

yeah, if i saw a dog running toward me, even a decent sized one, i'd just chill out and hold my hand out for it to smell. unless of course it was a german shepherd or a rottweiler, then i wouldnt cuz i like my hand very much thank you

or is that just a stereotype? let's start a dog discussion, shall we?

sorry for distracting from your story, DirtyD

Yeah, my dog just growls and barks, he has never actually bit someone, unless your playing around with him.

when I first saw the title of your post, I though that implied that your dog was dead, which made me sad... anyways I don't know what type of a dog it was but if it was a pitbull or a rotweiller, I woulda shot it too, anything else, I would have probably ran up a tree cuz I've had too many bad experiences with dogs.

if a large dog was runing at me barking and growling, in the forest, off a leash, i'd shoot first and ask questions later.. sorry, but if i thought it was me or a dog, i'd choose me.

it's the god honest truth, and I would do the same... A large dog can kill you.

*****Update*****
Talkin to my mom again just now. I guess when the arrow went into Rubin's shoulder it splintered the bone which caused him some paralyasis. Not sure if it was just in that leg, or his whole body. Fortunately, the doctors took the arrow/splinter out but not too sure how good he is for walking because he is still really drugged up to rid the pain.

Racking up a bill of about $4,000 for Rubin alone, this has been quite an expensive year because my brother has gotten into a lot of trouble, but my parents can't really afford much more. The vets and some animal activists don't think the guy should get away with what he had done even if it was out of self defense, but I dont think making the first attack really counts as defense.

i stick by what i said before, about sensitive girls vs insensitive guys...(nothing against powder and jamwil, you're entitled to your opinions and honesty means a lot)

that majorly sucks, i got a dog 2yrs ago after literally my entire life of begging, i dont know what i'd do if anything happened to her that would make me question her surviving. I'm glad he'll be ok, hopefully he'll be walking soon.

poor dude(the dog)....I think it was a stupid guy probably, dogs can be easily scared off a lot of times if they're running at you. rarely do you have cause to fear for your life even if the dog is growling. but oh well send your dog my best wishes, lol. speaking of dog antics, my dog(the weimareiner not the spaniel) grabbed a skunk right outside our door a few days ago....the results were not good, the skunk sprayed everywhere! my dog got it, my sister got it(luckily it was her turn to take the dog outside, lol), the backyard still smells like skunk, and not to mention my dog....that stuff is hard to get out! the poor little skunk was hurt but he ran off in fear off his life, hehe.

Depends on the size of the dog... my friend has a dog that comes up above my waist *it's shoulder*, and last time i was walkin him w/ my friend he decided he wanted to play so he jumped up, and it was level w/ my face... now picture something like that come sprinting out of the woods at you.... dunno maybe girls would do something differant.
